NEW-AGE Christmas hampers filled with cordial and crackers instead of cake and pudding will be distributed around the Central Coast and Hunter.
Charity group The Samaritans Foundation has prepared hundreds of hampers for the homeless, youth, elderly and isolated people in need.
The Samaritans will send about 1100 hampers to those in need in the Hunter and Central Coast.
A group of 12 workers and Samaritan volunteers packed hampers in Wyong yesterday, containing cordial, crackers, salsa, food vouchers, corn chips, fruit juice, cereals and gifts.
Samaritans youth worker Lisa O'Brien said the calico bag hampers were filled with less traditional items because of their youth focus.
In Newcastle, the Samaritans were filling about 600 hampers for the city, 60 for Cessnock and 100 for East Maitland.
